Reading with Stefan Hornbach

05.05.2025 -

On Wednesday, 7 May 2025, from 18:00 to 19:30, the author Stefan Hornbach will read from his award-winning novel ‘Den Hund überleben’. The event is part of the exhibition ‘DA IST ETWAS. Cancer and Emotions’ exhibition at Magdeburg University Hospital.

In his quiet, humorous and poignant novel, Hornbach tells the story of what happens when there seems to be no way forward. His protagonist Sebastian, just at the beginning of his adult life, is confronted with helplessness, dependence and frailty as a result of cancer. But Hornbach shows that Sebastian is more than his illness. The story tells of deep insecurity, but also of a new courage to face life and a different, quiet strength. The author has channelled his personal experiences into the story. His debut novel ‘Surviving the Dog’ was awarded the prestigious literature prize of the Jürgen Ponto Foundation in 2021.

The reading will be accompanied by a book table at the Fritz Wahle bookshop. The author will be available for book signings afterwards. The event is free of charge. Further information can be found in the invitation.
